Application Operation Specialist

In the role as Application Operation Specialist you will work within application operations with a specific segment of customers within the pharmacy domain. You will manage business critical systems and ensure their availability and functionality. The pharmacy solutions include prescription management and dispensing, Retail ERP, POS, In-Store Solutions and Online prescription sales.

You will also follow up on incidents and problems and manage alarms from the system. This role offers a variety of responsibilities from managing tasks in request fulfillment and investigating errors, led by the problem manager, to find the source of the problem and suggest temporary solutions.

Your overall objective is to work proactively; tuning the system and improving its overall environment. As part of the process of tuning the system you will work with both functional and technical integration tests as well as testing new functions in the system. You will also work with deployment by updating, patching and working with change management. To be successful in the role you will need to gain an understanding of the client’s business process in order to implement Extenda Retail’s products and solutions into the client’s environment.

Scope of responsibilities for the role as Application Operation Specialist:

  • Hands-on work with installation and upgrades of patches and hotfixes as well as configuration changes.
  • Take part in 3rd line support in troubleshooting and managing incoming issues
  • Report errors and bugs to the product development team.
  • Participate in knowledge exchange activities and train the support organisation by providing knowledge on how to enhance the solutions for the 1st and 2nd line support.
  • Be prepared to take part in extended support on evenings and weekends.
  • Monitor the system solution in order to trim database, archive and data selection
  • When needed, also participate as a experts resource in projects.
  • Work with processes within the Application Management by contributing with ideas on how to develop and streamline routines and improve ways of working.

This is a role with a broad range of responsibilities where you are expected to be active i learning more about Extenda Retail’s products and the system solution that our customers are using.


  • You have a technical degree from university or equivalent working experience.
  • You have professional experience of working with complex business systems or POS-solutions.
  • You have extensive knowledge of retail processes from a role within purchase, stocking, logistics, or in-store
  • You have experience of different scripting languages.
  • You have a basic knowledge of programming and SQL.
  • You are used to working with multiple tasks and in a server environment, as well as experience with trouble-shooting.

Nice to have:

  • You have knowledge of the regulations within the pharmaceutical market as well as about Extenda Retail’s customers.
  • You have experience from working with Linux, Glassfish and Jetty.
  • You have well documented experience from development and IT-operations such as ITIL, Scrum, PM3 or similar.
  • You are well-acquainted with the most common ITIL processes.
