Filip's new role as SRE Manager is well-deserved, and we are grateful for his efforts in creating a positive and comfortable work environment for everyone. Let’s get to know him a little better.
Share a little about your role as a Manager for the SRE team at Extenda Retail.
My role primarily involves leading the team in the right direction regarding development and focus areas, such as driving automation to enhance efficiency and improving internal tooling to allow developers to concentrate on what they do best: developing new features for Hii Retail. I’m also actively engaged in the daily operations of Hii Retail, handling monitoring, incident response, and post-incident reviews.
Having been with Extenda Retail for 13 years in various roles and teams, I bring knowledge and experience to our relatively young team. This background helps guide our efforts effectively within the organization and foster a culture of innovation and continuous learning. Additionally, I am involved in reviewing new systems and functions for Hii Retail to ensure that the architecture aligns with our architectural and development guidelines, guaranteeing we have a scalable and reliable system for our customers.
What were your biggest lessons learned during your time at Extenda Retail?
Trust in yourself. As a personal development, I have learned to trust in my knowledgeable colleagues and not have to know all the details. That makes it easier to delegate tasks more effectively. While I still have a passion to understand the details, I have realized that trying to keep track of everything can significantly increase my workload and stress.
If you could travel back in time, what would you say to yourself before joining Extenda Retail?
The future is bright. While studying, both at high school and the university I didn’t really know what profession I would want to work with hence why I studied computer science which is a very broad spectrum. At that time, I could sometimes feel a bit lost and not know in what direction I would go but that is also the power of IT; There are so many different directions and roles available so there is always something that fits your profile.
What makes Extenda Retail special for you?
Extenda Retail is very open minded as a company and even though we all have a lot on our table, people take time to help you. It also allows you to, by using innovation, make a real difference either internally or to our customers that use our products.
How has Extenda Retail supported you as you progress/in your professional development?
From the very beginning with Extenda Retail 13 years ago, it was clear that the company is deeply committed to supporting the professional growth and development of its employees. I have had the opportunity to work on a variety of challenging projects that have expanded my technical expertise that I now can share with my team.
