Welcome, Fabian Lörstad
"At Extenda Retail I get to work on projects that actually have an impact, and tasks that benefit both me as an intern but also Extenda Retail. I have colleagues and mentors that are there to guide me through complex tasks and help me in whatever question I might have."
Why did you choose to do your internship at Extenda Retail?
My first impression of Extenda Retail was when Anders Österholm, a previous student at Nackademin, reached out and visited our DevopsEngineering class. Anders, who initially started his time at Extenda Retail as a LIA-student, shared his experience of the company and described what tasks we would be involved in. Among the presented options, the projects at Extenda Retail appeared to align most closely with our studies. Given my retail background, I found a connection with the products and their application in stores, sparking my interest in the position.
During my first office interview at Extenda Retail, I immediately felt that this was the right fit. The interaction with my team was relaxed and welcoming, and the office environment left a positive impression. Despite having another offer on the table, I chose to seize this opportunity.
What are you currently working on?
We are currently engaged in three projects. The first involves automating the migration of users, teams, rules, and permissions from an internal alert tool to a new cloud based instance. In the second project, we are simplifying the invoicing process for digital receipts through automation, using our own solutions. Lastly, our focus is on monitoring and creating metrics for current systems to proactively manage issues.
Describe your biggest technical challenge so far.
Navigating the cloud, specifically Google Cloud Platform (GCP), has been our major challenge. It is entirely new to us, and the more we delve into it, the more we realize there is to understand. Our mentor has been very helpful and has structured the learning process effectively. We are gradually introduced to GCP to avoid feeling overwhelmed by the vast amount of information.
